2015 FMB TOUR: Colorado Freeride Festival

The 2015 Colorado Freeride Festival went down this past weekend at Winter Park, Colorado. The weekends features many key competitions in mountain bike downhill and racing over three days, but it is the Maxxis Slopestyle OpenFinals, home of the only major open FMB slopestyle event in the western hemisphere, that draws crowds from all over the western states to watch the top FMB athletes in the world battle it out for big air at Trestle Bike Park. With one of the best courses on the FMB World Tour, designed in 2015 by Kelly McGarry, each year some of the most progressive runs of the season happen here in Colorado.

Slopestyle competitor Carson Storch, currently ranked 18th in the world, held off a furious challenge from 15 of the top athletes in the sport to claim the 2015 Colorado Freeride Festival Maxxis Slopestyle title.  Storch earned the victory in front of a packed crowd on a picture-perfect day at Winter Park Resort.
Storch, who hails from Bend, Oregon, posted a score of 91 in his first run and that’s all he’d need, as Italy’s Torquato Testa finished second and Jakub Vencl from Czech Republic took third.  Nicoli Rogatkin, who is currently ranked fifth in the world and won Friday’s qualifier, fell in both of his runs to ensure Storch claimed victory.
